Online assessment tool
The Disability Standard Assessment is completed online at www.disabilitystandard.com, supported by a range of resources and help text pop ups.
Previous participants were given a username and password to obtain full access to the online assessment tool.
The 2009 Assessment consisted of over 100 questions and over 50 requests for supporting evidence. Disability experts from Employers’ Forum on Disability then validated submissions by comparing user ratings against the evidence provided.
Organisations had eight weeks from Monday, 2 March 2009 until Monday, 27 April 2009 to complete the assessment and collate all associated evidence.

Diagnostic report
At the heart of the Disability Standard is the tailored diagnostic report that participants received following their submission in July 2009.
The report classifies priority actions as legal risk, quick wins and best practice providing the basis for a disability action plan. It interprets validated scores by comparing results with the overall benchmark mark average, sector average and where appropriate previous Disability Standard performance.
In 2009 individual scores remained confidential, but participants were awarded either a Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze or Participant certificate together with a logo that could be used to promote participation.

The workshops addressed areas of weakness seen across all participants, as identified through the Disability Standard results.
