Scoring

Each criteria is worth 10 marks or 10% of the total Disability Standard score (100%). The Disability Standard is a best practice assessment and the scoring is reflective of this. Each criteria is split into 5 sections; lead, framework, delivery, review and advantage.

The simple scoring structure used throughout the assessment, will help you to accurately measure your organisation's progress with work on disability.

There are 10 criteria. 10 marks are available for each criteria.

2 marks are available for each of the 5 sections (lead, framework, delivery, review and advantage).

Lead: You need to show that you have strong operational leadership to deliver and sustain best practice in that area (with the exception of commitment, when you need to show strong leadership which will maintain or raise the profile of disability).

Framework: You need to show that you have a framework that enables you to be consistent.

Delivery: You need to show examples of getting it right for disabled people last year.

Review: You need to show that you do both quantitative and qualitative research in that area, and identify and implement organisational learning.

Advantage: You need to show that you value getting disability right, and go the extra mile.

A. To rate your work as In progress - 1 mark you need to provide evidence that demonstrates all of the outcomes listed under 1 mark. All of these outcomes represent work that EFD considers essential to reduce your organisation's level of legal or reputational risk.

B. To rate your work as Advanced - 2 marks you need to provide evidence that demonstrates all of the outcomes listed under 2 marks.

If you are missing evidence to demonstrate any of the outcomes under either 1 or 2 marks you will usually not be able to achieve the mark, so should rate yourself at either 0 or 1 mark accordingly. The only exception to this is if you are able to prove mitigating circumstances which mean that it is unreasonable for you to demonstrate an outcome (for example you do not work with any suppliers or partners). The Disability Standard is primarily designed for large organisations, so this should only be necessary in exceptional circumstances.

It should be noted that in the Advantage section that the marks are not linked.  You can get one point for saying how exemplary you are even if you can’t do everything specified in this section.

If you are trying to work out whether you are performing well, it may be helpful for you to know that:

Gold is 90% or more.
Silver is 80% or more.
Bronze is 70% or more.

If you wish to check your progress with completing the assessment please use the 'Activity log' which will highlight whether you have completed or partly completed your scoring for each criteria.

If you have any questions about the Disability scoring, please post a query on our message board in the first instance.

You will need to be logged into the Disabilty Standard website as a super-user to access the Activity log or Message board.
