The Disability Standard 2005 results provide a fascinating insight into the extent to which 80 diverse UK employers had become 'disability confident'.

The top performers demonstrated how they manage disability as an integral part of the way they do business. Others were still putting together the foundations of good practice in place while some were facing legal and reputational risk.

In 2005, participants scored, on average, 57%. Only 18 organisations scored above 75%, and of these, 11 were public sector organisations and just six were FTSE 100 companies.

The Benchmark Report 2005 also compares performance on disability with that on race and gender and highlights how disability lags behind other diversity strands.
