What is the process for the Disability Standard 2009?
Step 1 – Register. Now until End of January 2009
To register your organisation for the Disability Standard 2009 email the team at: disabilitystandard@efd.org.uk or call us on 020 7089 2470.
Step 2 - Receive your Disability Standard pack. From February 2009
You will receive your Disability Standard pack from February 2009 onwards at a workshop event. Your pack will include the Assessment, The Directory and Guide to completion.
Step 3 - Attend a pre-completion workshop. January and February 2009
A number of workshops will be held across the country. At these workshops, the Disability Standard team will be on hand to facilitate some practical examples, run through the completion process, demonstrate the website and answer any questions you may have.
Step 4 - Complete the Assessment and submit. March 2nd until 27th April 2009
You will have eight weeks to complete and submit your Assessment online. During this period the Disability Standard team is on hand to assist you with any questions you may have. You can view and print your submission at any time as well as view submissions from 2005 and 2007 if applicable. Once submitted, your self-assessment is validated by EFD and ratings adjusted accordingly.
Step 5 - Receive your individual, Diagnostic report from July 2009
Your individual tailored report interprets your validated scores and enables you to compare your results with the overall benchmark average. Your report will also feature key successes, identify risks and present recommendations for priority action.
Step 6 - Receive full Benchmark Report and attend ‘Building disability confidence’ event. Autumn 2009.
The ‘Building disability confidence’ event brings together participants for a series of tailored workshops. The workshops will address areas for improvement, which have been identified through the Disability Standard results. It also marks the launch of the Benchmark Report, which will provide a snapshot of UK business performance on disability.
Step 7 – Attend Disability Standard 2009 Awards ceremony.
Attend the Awards ceremony to celebrate best practice and those participants that have excelled. The evening celebrates not only high performers but organisations that have shown great improvement as well as individual examples of best practice.
Step 8 - Develop your disability action plan. Autumn 2009 onwards.
Use your diagnostic report to determine priority actions and use the Directory to develop and deliver your disability action plan. The Disability Standard team is also available, on request, to meet to discuss your diagnostic report and the next steps.
