What is Disability Standard?

The Disability Standard is a unique online assessment tool, which shows you where you are on disability, where you need to be and how to get there.

The Disability Standard is the most cost-effective way to audit your progress on disability as it affects every aspect of your business and crucially it provides the information you need to design and deliver your disability action plan for the coming year(s). The Disability Standard package includes:

•    Access to the Disability Standard online assessment tool.
•    Access to a directory of best practice guidance.
•    A place at a pre-completion workshop.
•    A Diagnostic report on your organisation’s performance.
•    A tailored debrief session (as requested).
•    A place at the ‘Building disability confidence’ event.
•    A copy of the Disability Standard 2009 Benchmark Report.
•    Entry into the Disability Standard 2009 Awards.
•    A place at the Disability Standard 2009 Awards ceremony.
•    Telephone and email support from the Disability Standard team.
•    One year of membership for non-members only (and excluding organisations with less than 500 employees).

Organisations self-complete the Disability Standard Assessment online, which asks for evidence against a number of questions covering disability as it affects every aspect of your business.

Responses will be analysed and benchmarked against other respondents’ results. Your results will be fed back to you in your diagnostic report together with the average score of all participants and your sector (if applicable). The report will detail areas of high performance as well as best practice action you can take, quick wins and areas of legal risk.

You will also receive the Directory, which brings together every piece of relevant disability legislation, regulation, code of practice and technical standard, whether it applies to customers, buildings, health & safety, e-accessibility, or CSR reporting. There will also be a series of workshops to enable you to get the most from the results and share ideas with other participants.

Participants will also have access to a secure online account where they will be able to complete their Assessment, download key documents and view their current and previous reports. The site also lists case studies of best practice from participants from the Disability Standard in 2005 and 2007.
